Supported Employment Work Groups (SE)

One of the major building blocks or stepping stones in the employment of a YES! Client is through Supported Employment Work Groups.  It is in the group or crew model where YES! Clients learn all sorts of basic work skills and practices like punctuality, taking direction, perseverance, and of course, the dos and don’ts of the workplace.  Time and again, the work group model has proven to be a place where skills can be discovered, honed, and retained.

In this particular service of the YES! Program, jobs are contracted with employers in the community, onsite at their place of business.  Under the supervision of a YES! Staff as Crew Leader, the YES! Work Group becomes in-tandem with, and interwoven into the work environment and culture of the business.

As our Clients/Workers are challenged to develop and test their skills, they discover new abilities and they often find that they are capable of more than they ever thought possible. All they need is training and a chance to prove themselves.

In general, our Clients/Workers do best in jobs that are predictable and repetitive in nature and in tasks which can be taught through step-by-step procedures. These include, but are not limited to: clerical, grounds/lawn maintenance, light industrial, general labor, housekeeping/laundry, assembly, janitorial, and food service.

Our goal is two-fold: To provide quality job experiences for our workers and to provide quality services for the employer.
